Prepping for the Biggest.Conference. Ever.

So you've been given the green light to attend Dreamforce, now what? With only a few days left until the conference, the following tips should help you feel at ease as you finalize your plans.

NETWORKING

  • Start networking as soon as possible – Largest yearly event for your network

  • Follow members in Success Community (MVPs, Product Experts)

  • Plan on meeting up w/your network at events

  • Blogs/Webinars/#DF14 Sessions

  • Schedule time in agenda for networking; connect w/experts, ask questions

AGENDA

  • HOTs (Hands-On-Training) Sessions

  • Code Sessions

  • Circles of Success (Can only sign up for 1 session)

  • Knowledge Gaps (Session Descriptions & Pre-Req)

  • Bookmark – Wait in line for key sessions (arrive early)

  • Connect w/your SF AE; suggest sessions for your Org

  • Hardcopy of your Agenda w/location & speakers listed

  • DON’T OVERBOOK!

MATERIALS

  • Collect all handouts/guides

  • Check Session room for extras

  • Dev Zone Guides & How Tos that you cannot find or purchase. Grab as many as you can carry (seriously!)

EXPO

  • List of key critical business problems you would like to solve

  • View Demos before Dreamforce (use #DF14 live Demo to dive deeper)

  • Ask to connect with customers/referrals

  • Schedule follow ups & always get a proof of concept

  • If have a booth/event: Prep a 2 minute pitch (customers are looking for demo links, customer testimonials) Leverage tools (iPad to demo, iPhone to email Content)

KEY CONTACTS

  • Take a business card for everyone YOU want to follow up with post-conference

  • List key points on back or use mobile to log interaction and set follow up or use a business card scanner following the conference

  • Badge Scanner

POST-CONFERENCE

  • Have a plan for executing what you learn

  • Develop Overview doc/Highlights on return flight home for management

  • Implement something you’ve learned each week/month post-conference

GENERAL TIPS

PACKING

  • Comfortable Shoes, Comfortable Shoes, COMFORTABLE SHOES!!!

  • Layers

  • Leave room in luggage for materials & Expo swag

FOOD

  • Grab additional ‘To Go’ items at breakfast for a snack later

  • Hand sanitizer

  • Know where food will be & plan ahead

POWER

  • Power Strip; leads back to networking

  • Extra Battery Pack

COMMUNITY

  • Update your photo on Success Community (badge will pull from this photo)

  • Always wear your badge; you will need this for 90% of the parties/functions

CERTIFICATION

  • Discounted Rate at Dreamforce

  • Sessions on tips to get Certified

  • Connect w/others (Notecard sharing sites/blogs)

  • Go For It! If you don’t pass, focus on the topics you need more practice with to prepare for a retake
